Jules Hamer

I enjoy working with survivors of sexual trauma and with individuals who feel weighed down by experiences that are confusing, overwhelming, or hard to put into words. I’m especially drawn to working with people who are thoughtful and self-aware, yet feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or disconnection that don’t always make sense on the surface. I strive to offer a steady, compassionate space where healing can unfold at a pace that feels safe and respectful.

My approach to therapy is trauma-informed and integrative, and I tailor my work to each person’s needs. I focus on helping you understand how your brain and nervous system have adapted to keep you safe, while gently supporting new ways of relating to yourself and your experiences. I’m trained in Brainspotting, a brain-based, relational approach to trauma work that allows for deep processing without requiring you to relive or retell painful details. Many people find this approach to be less overwhelming and more honoring of their boundaries.

I value collaboration and believe therapy should move at your pace, whether you’re seeking short-term support or deeper, long-term healing. My style is warm, grounded, and supportive, with room for honesty, curiosity, and moments of lightness when they naturally arise. You don’t need to come in with the right words or a clear goal — we can discover that together.

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Social Work, from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Montevallo. I am a National Certified Counselor and an Associate Licensed Counselor, offering both in-person and online therapy for individuals, couples, and families.

I believe therapy should feel safe, respectful, and affirming. You are in control of your story here, and you get to move through it in your own way, with support alongside you.
